Dr. Ananya Chatterjea, a Professor of Dance at the University of Minnesota since 1999, founded ADT in 2004 following conversations with dancers and non-dancers alike who craved a space for women of color to be in community and dance together.

“Clay is particularly wonderful, it’s such a tactile medium that’s so responsive to touch,” Raskin said. Beyond its creative potential, clay is also a great tool for recovering perfectionists. “One of the things that I always say when I’m teaching is that in clay, failure is mandatory. It’s only clay. It’s just dirt. So, it’s not so precious,” Raskin said. Midway Clay’s studio isn’t the only active spot in the building. The gallery is full of original works, especially during St. Paul’s city-wide art crawls.

Passersby may know the bar for its large, bright blue sign donned above the entrance that reads, “50 beers 100 whiskeys.” The choice to align itself with beer and whiskey drinkers was intentional, but like the events it hosts, there is something for everyone from the fruity cocktail drinkers to the THC seltzer crowds. Ultimately, their goal is to welcome all who find their way through the door. 

Vietnamese restaurant Pho Pasteur has cemented its place as a pillar of the casual dining and takeout scene in the Hamline-Midway community. The owners credit the spirit of generosity they share with the neighborhood and quality food at good value for the restaurant’s steady customer base.
